Hazem builds Bilbx from Perth. He's a software engineer, not an accountant — these guides exist because the same questions kept coming up about receipts, warranties and what the ATO actually expects, and the answers were either buried in legislation or written for another country. Everything here is checked against what the ATO and ACCC publish, and linked so you can check it yourself.
What sits behind these pages is a working life spent on receipts and the records people keep of what they bought — and having read the ATO's and the ACCC's published guidance a good deal more carefully than most people ever need to.
Where the facts come from
Primary sources only. Every rule on these pages traces back to something the regulator published — ato.gov.au for tax records, accc.gov.au and the Australian Consumer Law for returns and warranties. We link them at the foot of every article so you can check us rather than take our word for it.
The bar is simple: every claim traces to the source that actually decides it. That is what gets you an answer you can act on, and take to your accountant if you want a second opinion.
